Lab Grown Meat. Are ready to eat it??

Lab grown meats don’t really seem that appitizing to me. The first time I heard about them I thought, “Ew I’ll stick to regular meat thank you,” I didn’t want to think about eating lab grown meat. It seemed weird to me that first of all that’s a thing, and second that our technology has actually evolved that much to be able to create that.
Here’s the procedure:
- The first step is to take a muscle sample from an animal
- Next technicians will start to collect stem cells from the tissue
- Afterwards the technicians continue to mutiply the cells; this allows them to turn into primitive fibers, which allows them to bulk up and grow into muscle tissue.
- Then they are grown around “scaffolds” so they can grow into their desired shape.
Lab grown meats does start a rival ship against farm grown meats because soon enough “clean meat” might start piling into stores and restaurants. Although in 2013 there was a little set-back. In 2013 there was the first ever, taste test of lab grown meat, but it was said that it was dry because of the lack of fat. If scientists can modify the muscle tissue so that the taste of the meat is just as good as natural animal meat and manage the price/cost well, then lab grown meat may really be at our dinner tables in the following years.

Lab grown meats are one way that humans can get meat without having to kill animals. This process allows the cruel ways in which animals are treated and raised only to be slaughtered, to be something in the past and there to be less animal cruelty. This topic of lab grown meats, may seem like a good idea or a gross one, but it’s definitely controversial, believe it or not. Some people have called the idea of lab grown meats to not be meat at all or disrespectful in some ways. The American Meat Association has concerns about the if lab grown meat will provide the same healthy proteins and nutrients as traditional meats do.

I think that lab grown meats have potential to be served at restaurants and in homes. The idea is honestly cool, and good for the environment in making sure people don’t get sick from meats and the animals are treated well. Some people though, like traditional meat lovers, I don’t think will be as willing to try it or buy it Also, farmers who raise animals and people in the meat industry may have to face being stripped of there sales by a bit, or possibly by a lot. Lab grown meats will definitely cause more beef between the meat industries.
