Healing Ultra Sound Waves
Healing Ultra Sound Waves
By Gerry Atkinson
Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's are both mental illnesses that speed up the process of mental deterioration. Side affects of both diseases include loss of memory, anxiety, hallucinations, and a few other mental issues. Students at the Tohoku University of Japan have recently been studying the effect of Ultra Sound Waves on the brains of mice with said diseases. When mice with diseases such as Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's had their whole brains exposed to ultrasound waves their cognitive dysfunction improved drastically. These Scientists may found a cure for diseases that affects 47 million people world wide! The research team discovered that when mice with dementia or Alzheimer's had improved cognitive function when their entire brains were exposed to low intensity ultra sound waves. Since the therapy requires no surgery the risks of this procedures are very minimal, meaning that if the procedure does in fact work, there will be almost no negatives. The only downside may be the fact that for the waves to be effective they have to be applied three times a day for about 20 minutes a session, making it slightly time consuming.
Although the majority of treatments that are tested on animals don't have the same results when tested on humans, but due to the very similar anatomy and behaviors of mice and humans things are very hopeful for the future. The mice and rats that are used are all inbred, meaning that each and everyone is genetically the same allowing no hidden variables in experiments. Additionally mice and humans share about 90 percent of their DNA and besides from structural layouts
are not really that different.
The next step that would need to be taken for this procedure would be to do slightly more animal testing and then move on to human trials. Once everything is clear and safe with the mice, healing ultra sound waves may be able to help creatures further up the food chain. Hopefully one day, dementia and Alzheimer's disease will be shrugged off and treated painlessly at a moments notice, and no one will have to suffer from it anymore.
