Signia Hearing Aids

Signia hearing aids are made by the Siemen’s company, which a is a well-known German company for its hearing aid division and is currently one of the largest hearing aid manufactures worldwide. Signia hearing aids are differently manufactured from regular hearing aids, and are more advanced in sound quality and making it easier to be able to adjust and fix their quality. Signia launched a new brand platform called Nx which has several new features that comes in three new levels of technology; the Nx7, the Nx5, and the Nx3.

The brain and ears of an animal or human are the two crucial things that go into having proper hearing.  Ears have complex pathways that will capture, process and transmit sound to the brain. The outer ear of an animal or human helps funnel sounds into the ear canal, until that sound reaches the eardrum. Those sound waves will cause the eardrum to start to vibrate, and then the vibrations are sent to the ossicles, which amplify the vibrations and pass them to the inner earAfterwards when the vibrations reach the cochlea, tiny hair cells that are mostly known as stereocilia start to react and transmit sound vibrations into electrical signals that are captured by the auditory nerve; after that the
brain takes over and that when the magic of hearing really kicks in.

Signia hearing aids come with a built in OVP or Own Vioce Processing which is the first device to produce the user’s own voice differently from other sounds or people’s voices. The company has its own separate processor on the platform to facilitate that, and they say it will increase the acceptance of the user’s own voice. For new hearing aid users the sound quality of their own voice can seem off-putting and they usually just learn to live with it, which doesn’t mean they like it. The system tries to deal with that problem by completely removing auditory occlusion so that the user is not aware of their own voice in the usual way they would be when wearing hearing aids. Each hearing aid softens loud sounds like a plate shattering so it wouldn’t seem as loud as it normally would be, and depending on which hearing aid you have like a Binax Nx results in the number of qualities that come with it.
I think that Signia’s hearing aids really show the advancement of technology we are capable to of creating in the twenty first century, and how we can use that to help people. The amount of time and research it would have taken to create these almost perfect hearing aids amazes me that we are actually capable to do that, hopefully in the near future we can accomplish more.
