What forces are skydivers using?
Jillian Spiller-Force in Motion-What forces are skydivers using?

You’ve seen those incredible skydiving videos, right? That’s right, who hasn’t seen them, they are amazing. Lately, when I have seen those videos, I have thought to myself, “How does that work?”. After doing some studying I have learned so much. I get the force and motion laws used in skydivers being able to jump out of a plane and safely land on the ground. In Newton’s 3 force and motion laws, he clearly explains all of my questions.
The physics behind skydiving involves the interaction between gravity and air resistance. For example, when a skydiver jumps out of his plane, accelerating downwards immediately occurs. The skydiver starts falling down back to the earth. This happens because of gravitational force. Gravitational force is often meaning the same thing as gravity. It means the difference in mass between two objects. In a skydivers case, it is a person being pulled back to the ground.
Force and motions applying to skydiving is amazing! With just a parachute, you can completely change your speed that you are falling. With learning newton’s laws, and we understand how skydiving actually works. Now, thanks to newton’s laws of motions, we all understand how force and motion apples to skydivers!
