Alloys

Earth is surrounded with amazing materials form gold we wear as jewelry to the oil that powers our cars. Chemicals are the building blocks from which all the material inside Earth are made. There are a lot of different types of elements and a lot of them are metals. Most metals around the world are not actually metals at all but they are alloys. Alloys are metals combined with other substances in order to make them better in some way. The best way to think of alloys is as a material that is made up of at least two different chemicals.

There are 4 mainly different types of alloys. Brass is one of the most common alloys. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, brass is mostly used in door locks and bolts, brass musical instruments, central heating pipes. The other type alloy is bronze. Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin. Bronze is mostly found in decorative statues, musical instruments. Steel is another important type of alloy. Steel is an alloy of carbon and iron, which means it is very strong and hard. It is the most used alloy, used in construction, appliances and cars. The last type of alloy is sterling silver. Sterling silver is an alloy of silver and copper, it looks like silver, but it is much stronger. It mostly used to make jewelry, dishes, utensils, and medical equipment.
Some types of alloys are very strong metals, so in the future they will be very help full. The future for alloys is very bright, we can use them for a lot of important things. Alloys in the future would be very helpful for natural disasters, if people used most alloys to build their house structures, they can stand stronger during natural disasters. In the future people can change the alloy is made and make it stronger. Alloy is important because the combination of elements results in a substance that has better characteristics than the characteristic of the individual elements alone.
