Global warming is one of earth's largest natural crisis today. If you don’t know what that is, global warming is the heating of the earth. Over many years humans have used many different resources, natural and unnatural, to create all types of power. The greenhouse effect is now causing an extreme increase in carbon dioxide. One of our biggest questions about global warming is, does matter have anything to do with this? Is global warming a physical, or chemical change?
A chemical change is a process where one or more substances are mixed into another substance. For example, burning wood, or salt dissolving in a glass of water are both examples of chemical change. What that means is that a physical change is a process in which the substance experiencing change in its physical properties such as how it looks, it’s shape, it’s size, and it’s color. Knowing these things, I began to wonder if global warming had to do with chemical or physical change.
After looking at articles about physical and chemical change, I realized that global warming is both of them. Chemical change because we burn many different oils, woods, and more and by burning non reusable resources we are creating more carbon dioxide. Global warming is connected to physical change because since the earth's temperature is increasing, Causing ice to melt quicker in colder places around the world. This is leading up water worldwide is rising. Eventually this will get too severe and humans and animals living along the coast lines will have to move further inland.
My overall question was that I was wondering if chemical or physical change effects global warming. I learned that depending on what step of global warming you are talking about. Having it include both was more challenging to research but was much more interesting to learn about. Now knowing how chemical and physical changes affect global warming, I definitely think that we should do more to save our planet.
