Beet Juice Booster Added to Anti-Icing Mixture

Recently, there have been record low temperatures around the United States. With this temperature leads to increased ice and snow that is much harder to deal with. There is a new snowstorm coming to the Midwest, and scientists have found a way to de-ice the roads.

Cities across the U.S. have reached record low temperatures.

The solution is beet juice. Road salt loses effectiveness below 20 degrees, often bouncing off major roadways before it has time to interact with the ice. Because of this, scientists added beet juice to "brine", a liquid substance that works under 20 degrees.

The Beet-Brine solution spread on roads

Beet-Brine has proved to be highly effective.  It successfully prevent ice from sticking to roads, and is very cost effective at $1.50 per gallon. It also doesn't stain roads or attract animals. Overall, this new solution has greatly helped cities across the nation deal with these weather conditions.

In the future, I believe that this mixture will be used in the case of more extreme weather. It greatly helped cities move past the issue of icy roads. This formula could probably be improved on, and scientists should try adding new natural solutions to see whether it leads to better results.
