Helium, the best noble gas for creating compounds

Over the past few years, Helium and other noble gases have been used to create multiple compounds. Scientists made these compounds through long processes, but were not able to fully explain why. Recently, scientists were finally able to create an explanation of why Helium is so good for making compounds.

A Noble Gas Surprise: Helium Can Form Weird Compounds

The reason Helium is so great at merging with these other substances is because, Helium fuses, without making chemical bonds. This means, when forming the compounds, Helium molecules and the other substance's molecules do not share/exchange their electrons. This is because the atoms go at each other with the electrons, and this creates a positively charged "shield" preventing from creating a chemical bond, but still forming the compound.

The Helium atom, is very resistant when it comes to giving up its 2 electrons. The reason is that Helium only has one shell, and that shell is completely full with its 2 electrons. Elements love to keep their electrons, especially when the atom is completely full. This is another reason why Helium doesn't give up its electrons.

This new discovery can lead to a lot of future experiments and compounds involving Helium. Because scientists now know how easily Helium merges with other elements and substances, there are many new possibilities of future experiments.
