Most cars get their power from an engine that uses a combustion chemical reaction

Atoms are the building blocks of matter. Any substance that is made up of only one kind of atom is called an element. Atoms of different elements can connect up with each other. This process is called a chemical reaction. The burning fuel in an automobile engine is a chemical reaction. We call this chemical reaction combustion. Automobile fuels are mostly made up of two important elements hydrogen and carbon. When these two elements are called hydrocarbons. During the combustion in the engine, these two elements connect with a third element, the gas oxygen.
During combustion of gasoline in the engine, the burning gases get very hot. Their temperature may go as high as 3319OC. This high temperature produces the pressure that makes the engine run and produce power. All of the hydrogen and all of the carbon in the gasoline would combine with oxygen to form harmless water and carbon dioxide. In the engine we do not get ideal combustion. Instead some of the gasoline does not burn. This is why cars have an anti pollution device. Because the unburned gasoline cause pollution of the air as they exit through the tail pipe.
This is how the car engine works. A car engine uses this reaction to push its pistons. Inside the engine, the gas is sprayed into the combustion chamber above the piston. It is mixed with oxygen and then ignited. The reaction heats it all up, making the air expand and push the piston outward. This is how the engine converts the gasoline’s chemical energy into mechanical force.
This chemical reaction can be very use full for cars engines, but it can be very harmful to humans. They might of invented the anti-pollution device in cars but. But if they continue to unburn the gasoline it can cause a lot of pollution in the air and maybe this device cannot prevent it all. In the future they can another chemical reaction to make the engine for the cars. They can develop new technology that makes engines for cars. Maybe the next eco cars can have different types of engines that do not cause pollution.
