Maglev Trains and Magnetic Transportation
There is a new form of transportation that could revolutionize transportation of the 21st century the way airplanes did in the past.Using powerful electromagnets to make high-speed trains, called maglev trains. Maglev is short for magnetic levitation. Meaning that these trains will float over a guideway using the advanced magnets to replace the old and less efficient wheel and track trains. The magnetic field created in this wire-and-battery experiment is the simple idea behind a maglev train rail system. There are three components to this system: electric power source, wire coils, strong magnets.
As Jesse Powell pust it “A Maglev train car is just a box with magnets on the four corners”. These magnetic fields interact with simple metallic loops set into the concrete walls of the Maglev guideway. The loops are made of conductive materials, like aluminum, and when a magnetic field moves past, it creates an electric current that generates another magnetic field. Then then opposites push and pull.
Maglev trains also don't require an essential part of traditional trains or transportation, an engine. Instead, maglev trains use just the electromagnetic field to propel the trains to a high speed. This cuts out a large cost and makes the trains much more efficient than any others. Additionally, the magnetic field has little to no effect on the environment, unlike the traditional fossil fuel powered engine.
Maglev trains are still developing and improving to be the best form of ground transportation. Since its a new form of transportation, if it sticks, it will most likely be one of the most popular forms of transportation. Its speed and efficiency is superior to almost all current forms of transportation. This is why maglev is the movement of the future.
