Sir Isaac newton was one of the most influential scientists when it come to the field of force and motion. He was a physicist and mathematician around the 1700’s. When Newton was three years old his recently widowed mother remarried causing Isaac to move in with his grandmother. For the next nine years he lived with his grandmother, which came at a price. The separation from his mother caused him to be anxious, obsess over work, and defend his out lash behaviours. Despite his traumatic childhood he went on to become the brilliant scientist he is forever known as.

Newton's discoveries cover a vast field but he is most known for his laws of motion. Newton’s three laws shaped physics forever. The first is, “every object persists in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed on it”. This law is also known as the law of inertia, which is the tendency an object has to resist motion. Newton’s second law reads, “ force is equal to the change in momentum(mV) per change in time. For a constant mass, force equals mass times acceleration”(F=ma) . This equation was eventually used to discover gravity and its effects. The third law that newton published in "Principia Mathematica Philosophiae Naturalis" was “ for every action, there is an equal and opposite re-action”.

Newton based his theory of gravity of these three laws. Newton discovered the relationship between the moon and the earth. Newton’s theory caused many more inventions and discoveries having to do with gravity and force.

The laws of motion that eventually lead to the theory of gravity affect space exploration. With a better understanding of the universe has greatly advanced this field it is far from a complete understanding. There are several space explorations scheduled for the future and there is research being down to figure out a safe way for longer manned space travel to exist. The future of space exploration, physics, mathematics and many others are all thanks to Sir Isaac Newton’s discoveries over 300 years ago.
