Lost Matter in Space Found

I was researching topics to do this on when I came across something that confused me but also made me really interested. It was an article which read “lost matter in space was found”, i didn't really know at that time what it meant but after researching this the topic started to really interest me. It all started when in 1998 NASA decided to make a inventory of all the matter in the universe. After a data collection something was missing in it, after calculation of how much matter was in the universe after big bang they were missing a large amount of matter that should be there. After a lot of work trying to find the matter and doing what they could at the time to be able to find it they came up hopeless.

( This is an image of the missing matter)

NASA ended up leaving the missing matter to later scientist since they weren't able to find it. Though over this last year a group decided to try to find the missing matter. The thing about this matter is it is dark matter and when they did the study 15% of the universe was supposed to be dark matter but they could only find 1.5%. This matter was also visible to the eye so they thought that they would be able to find it easily though that wasn't the case for this. Over a year of research they started to get close to something they thought could be it.

To be able to find the gas the single between the gas was so faint they had to multiply the single by a million to have a chance to find it. They were also nervous that the matter either got sucked up or was just so faint that a large percentage of matter just disappeared out of nowhere. Though after a lot of work finally they were able to come up with a signal in the matter. They were able to discover all of the matter that was thought to be missing or just gone. The lost matter was wound after almost 25 years.

In the beginning this topic really interested me I wanted to understand how matter just disappeared it didn't make sense to me. After reading and researching the topic more I was able to understand as much as possible yea there is still things I have questions about such as how we knew it was gone if we never saw it before, or if we just miss calculated. I mean the reason they knew about the matter was because of the big bang theory which is a theory so how did they knew it was really there. And did this mean that there is more proof that the big bang theory is true. I had many questions yet most were answered this did though interest me and I liked learning about it.
